G2 Performance
Incomparable
Incomparable. According to the Oxford Dictionary the definition of “incomparable” is: without an equal in quality or extent, matchless.
The West Chester University “Incomparable” Golden Rams have lived up to this tagline by winning the Sudler Trophy in 2019, and earning a national reputation as a leader in the marching arts. With prestige such as that, the program looked to find new uniforms in 2023 that would enhance their image while also providing their performers with unmatched versatility and comfort.
Enter G2 Performance
G2 has design and crafted the most adaptable and convertible uniforms on the market. With customizable and modular components that can be swapped out and changed in less than 30 seconds to completely alter the aesthetics of the uniform; West Chester University now has the ability to perform in alternate uniforms from performance to performance and from season to season. G2 understands the importance of flexibility when it comes to creating a uniform. When designing and crafting apparel for marching band performers they consider what they are making like creating athletic uniforms for top tier athletes.
Customization & Comfort
“Our primary objective with the new uniform concept was to develop a garment that would allow us an increased level of creative customization while continuing to serve as a point of pride throughout the West Chester University community,” says Dr. Adam Gumble, Director of Athletic Bands. “We are confident that audiences will recognize the new uniform as distinctly West Chester University while the customizable elements will allow for dozens of visual permutations that can truly transform the look of the entire ensemble".”
Comfort is an extremely important factor in the uniform business, and G2 engineers and designs their product with that in mind. Using its Mayaspan, Terrashell, and Acteev fabrics G2 creates uniforms with superior breathability and moisture management. When marching athletes try on a G2 uniform for the first time they are blown away by how easy it is to move.
“When we were talking about what we wanted in a new uniform the number one thing I was thinking about was comfortability,” says Anna Gutzler, sophomore Drum Major. “We do a lot of visual movements and things that are very physical and you can’t do that without a new uniform that is flexible, breathable, and that will move with you. I feel like we were kind of limited in some of those movements because of our old uniforms.”
Collaboration
G2 Gets It
G2 understands that marching band programs need visual flexibility, performance flexibility, as well as financial flexibility to operate today’s marching programs, and that’s what we strived to do when creating this uniform for West Chester University. A perfect partnership relies on establishing a common understanding, hard work, attention to detail, and of course trust. West Chester University and G2 Performance are both innovators in the marching arts and this pursuit of excellence is common ground that we both stand on. Being able to collaborate with each other on these new uniforms shows a willingness to grow and change. It’s a separating factor that West Chester University hopes to take with them as they march in the 2024 Rose Parade.
“I think West Chester likes to be a cut above the rest and also with the times and continuously moving forward and advancing our program. I think G2’s uniforms visually represent that, “ says Francesco Protasi, senior drum major. “They are very modern. The fact that we have customizable uniforms for each year is something that West Chester has never done before. This new innovation is what will keep us ahead of the game."
